Thinking ahead - without thinking.
My friends and I started what we’re hoping will be an annual tradition a couple years ago. We like to spend Labor Day weekend surrounded by bears and venomous snakes in the untamed frontier known as Buckhorn State Park. Camping is always fun, but this year promises to be a fabulous time - weather permitting - simply because of the kickass site we’ve reserved. Basically, we’ve got a lakeside peninsula all to ourselves, which means we’ll be spending a lot of time in the sun. As I’m normally a lighter shade of pale during 99.9% of the year, I figured it might be wise to slowly start working on getting a bit of a base tan so I don’t get fried to a crisp a month from now during Extreme Wilderness Challenge 2008.
Well, I apparently didn’t concentrate enough on the “slowly” portion of that objective. I got pretty burnt down at Bradford this weekend. My back is freakin’ killin’ me, y’all. Not the way I intended to go about this, but hopefully it’ll be a nice silky tan by Labor Day.
Aloe - it’s a good thing.
