Lots of Americans, one America

It’s hard to believe it’s already been seven years since Mohamed Atta and eighteen other psychos permanently shattered the illusion of American invincibility. CNN had an interesting poll on the news this morning in which they measured the importance placed upon certain issues by voters now as opposed to just a few years ago. Interestingly, terrorism was only fourth out of a list of five, garnering only 11%. In addition, when asked how likely the chances of a terrorist attack within the next several weeks might be, 30% said it was likely now, as opposed to 60% back in 2002.

While it’s certainly nice to see the gradual return to normalcy in the collective American psyche, I hope our new leadership - whoever it happens to be - maintains a reasonable and responsible diligence as we head into the next presidential era. If nothing else, the annual observance of Patriot Day helps ensure that this never, ever happens again.
